Brick Cracks

As your home’s foundation begins to settle, the most obvious signs are cracked bricks and wall cracks.

The exterior brick walls of your home are supported by the concrete foundation footing or slab that your home was built on. When the soil beneath your home begins to sink or settle, the weight of your exterior brick walls can no longer rest on the concrete footing without beginning to crack or break apart.

In masonry brick walls, a good indicator of foundation failure is stair step cracks that are larger towards the top and get smaller at the bottom.

These stair step brick cracks usually only get worse over time.
